Intervenção do enfermeiro em cuidados paliativos comunitários: protocolo para o desenvolvimento de um modelo de prática avançada

Abstract

Introduction: Community Palliative Care (PC) is essential to effectively addressing the complex needs and preferences of patients and their families at the end of life. However, in the context of a team whose model of action tends to be integrated and interdisciplinary, there are uncertainties regarding the autonomous practice of nurses. Objectives: To contribute to the development of an advanced nursing practice model in the provision of community PC. Materials and methods: This is a multi-phase, mixed-methods study. The first phase will involve a descriptive, cross-sectional, quantitative study. Subsequently, a document analysis study of autonomous nursing interventions will be conducted, followed by a scoping review and cross-mapping to identify the correspondence of the identified nursing interventions. Finally, a qualitative study using the Delphi Method will be carried out to develop a model for autonomous nursing interventions in the context of community PC provision. Discussion: Home is the preferred place of care/death for patients and families, which highlights the need to simultaneously improve community PC and nursing care. Advanced nursing practice can contribute to the sustainability of health services/systems, enabling greater access to specialized care and, consequently, higher satisfaction among patients, families, and professionals. Conclusion: The study will contribute to clarifying the autonomous practice of nurses in community PC and develop a model of advanced nursing practice. This model could lead to more effective and efficient care and guide practice in the development of future teams, resource management and organization of PC services.
